Jenni Cargill-Strong is a professional storyteller based in the Byron Shire on the east coast of Australia and she is Principal of The Story Tree Company. She employs a wide repertoire of dramatic skills and a beautiful singing voice to hold her audience. She has five award-winning story recordings and was 2014 Brisbane Slam Champion in the ABC Radio National “Now Hear This”. Her stories and songs have been featured on radio in the U.S. such as Apple Seed Radio and locally on ‘The Heart of the Story’ on 99.9 BAY FM Community Radio as well as ABC TV’s ‘7.30 Report’.

Jenni has performed for children and adults and presented workshops at festivals, conferences, libraries, schools and preschools throughout Australia and New Zealand. She is also a regular and popular guest at Tintenbar Upfront.

Jenni’s dramatic training includes a diploma from the Drama Action Centre in Sydney, where she studied clowning, improvisation, dance, singing, mask, mummers, percussion and workshop facilitation, specialising in storytelling. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Sociology from the University of Queensland, a Diploma of Education (Secondary English) from Southern Cross University. She moonlights as a tutor and guest lecturer at Southern Cross University and teaches storytelling locally and online.

Jenni’s performance experience was gained in over twelve hundred schools in Australia and New Zealand working for Nora Goodridge Management, the Queensland Arts Council and Musica Viva, both solo and as member of the mediaeval and Renaissance ensemble ‘Pastance’. She is currently represented in Queensland by Speakers Ink.

Jenni lives in the vibrant NSW North Coast town of Mullumbimby with her family and is an establishing member and facilitator of the Byron Circle of Tellers, which includes Susan Perrow, Annie Bryant, Teeya Blatt, Sandra Frain, Jacquelina Wills, John Imbrogno, Bere, Joseph Raya, Catherine Frederickson and Lynn Preston.

Jenni and The Byron Circle of Tellers convene The Golden Tale local stories concerts in Brunswick Heads, NSW.

Jenni Cargill-Strong, TUF’s most well known and favourite story teller entranced us with a tale from Egypt. Her flowing weaving of the perfect word stream had the listeners anticipating every next part of the story. The nobility of the ending was a surprise. Hollywood lost out to chivalry. Her delight and verve in the act of telling won us all. Thanks Jenny.
